Why do Prenatal Yoga?
The pregnant body goes through many changes, creating extra work for you heart and lungs, stretching and shifting muscles, joints and ligaments, affecting your digestion and playing havoc with your emotions. Gentle Yoga practice can help with all these changes, by providing balance, strength and space. It can help to prevent and relieve lower back discomfort, stretch out achy muscles, improve circulation, and lymphatic drainage, prevent leg cramps, varicose veins and edema (swelling) in the extremities, improve breathing efficiency, and aid in postnatal recovery.
In my prenatal yoga classes you will also learn breathing techniques for relaxation, movements to encourage baby in to the optimal position for birth, and beautiful meditations to connect and bond with your baby.
We currently hold group prenatal Yoga lessons weekly at Kanad (Oasis) Hospital as well as private sessions in your home or ours.
This prenatal yoga class is suitable for anyone past 14 weeks pregnancy. Take it slowly, drink plenty of water and rest when you need to. For private classes in your own home contact Mel
